"LaMetarenaissance"is a profound exploration of the crossroads at which humanity stands today, at the threshold between a future of love and harmony or one of fear and repression. Yana Germann’s vision is to stimulate a positive civilizational shift through a new renaissance, the ‘Metarenaissance.’
Germann, the founder of the ‘Metarenaissance’ movement, coined the term ‘Meta’ to mean ‘after,' circumventing historical repetition to rethink and find contemporary parallels. The movement's goal is the harmonious existence of humans in a technological world, maintaining authenticity, creating community, and promoting awareness and individuality in the digital age.
During the exhibition, Germann will introduce her five avatars, sub-personalities uploaded from her consciousness with the help of technology. These avatars serve as tools for introspection and self- understanding, facilitating Germann's process of individuation and spiritual transformation. This approach offers a universal guide to constructing identity in the modern world, merging physical and digital realms to explore and visualize the process of identity construction.
Through her diverse collection of paintings, sculptures, and digital art, Germann invites viewers to contemplate the potential of modern technology and its impact on our world. Her practice is rooted in the fusion of traditional mediums and technological innovation, beginning with physical sculptures, which are digitized, manipulated using 3D software, and ultimately reimagined in oil on canvas. This multidisciplinary approach preserves the sensuality of tangible materials while embracing digital enhancement possibilities.
Yana Germann’s artworks utilize avatars as tools for introspection and self-understanding. By delving into her subconscious and exploring these avatars within different scenarios, she gains a clearer understanding of her identity.
